Description:
During this day we propose you to enter fully into the heart of the Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, which has an area of 214,336 ha and is the largest protected area in Spain and the second largest in Europe. It has also been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO since 1983 and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) since 1987.
It is an enormous expanse that combines endless forests and spectacular landscapes created by the water in the limestone rock. Cradle of the Guadalquivir River and the Segura River among many others, this mountain range made Felix Rodriguez De la Fuente himself fall in love with it and, without any other choice, it makes us fall in love with it too.
And within this natural space, one of the main protagonists is the Bearded Vulture (Gypaetus barbatus), which for some years now, thanks to a meticulous reintroduction programme, has once again been fluttering its golden-coloured wings over these forests. Our main objective will be to observe Bearded Vultures, but this will only be the excuse to get into the heart of the park and enjoy its fauna, flora and spectacular landscapes.
For all this we will go into the park in a 4×4 on public roads and we will walk along some of the most spectacular viewpoints and look for the most suitable observation points to search for Bearded Vultures.
